Automatic Watch, 8N24 Case

Pushing forward the design from the previous hand-machined 8N24 case, several improvements were made:

  • Case was redesigned to meet specifications for metal 3D printing, the cheapest available method of medium quantity manufacture.
  • Bottom interface was given an increased chamfer as not to dig into people’s hands.
  • Strap interface was widened to increase durability and ease of assembly.
  • Crown was recessed to increase waterproofing and decrease the likelihood of the stem experiencing sheer stress.

Improvements that still need to be made:

  • Crown area isn’t fully waterproof still.
  • Band area is still too tight due to size constraints, and needs to be enlarged.
  • There isn’t enough clearance for the second hand.
